Electronics woe

Why is it that things always bide their time and break when you're going out of town or otherwise don't have time to deal with them. When I got back from origins I was hit with a double whammy. My cable tv went splat for some unknown reason and my PS2 died. Of the two I was more irked by the PS2, not only because of the cost involved with replacing it but that there was no reason it should break. I barely use the fucking thing. I'm starting to think I shouldn't have left it plugged in the entire time, even if it was in standby mode. God knows what might have burned out just from the passage of time. It still shouldn't have happened though. I'm certainly not going to rush to replace something I barely use....that and I hear that PS3 is coming out soon. Good grief...that's hard to believe. What more can they add to a console that's already clocking better than a good chunk of home computers out there. I'm just waiting for VR (aka holodeck) technology to finally make an appearance. Chances are I'll be too old and decrept to really enjoy it by the time it does come out.

As for the cable tv, I made an appointment with a tech before I left for jersey. I left the lab early today to wait for him and it turns out that this side of my building is all on the fritz. They've scheduled a lineman to do something that will fix it within the next half a day or so, and I'm looking forward to getting my tv back. I often use it for background noise and it's scary how my thumb automatically punches in channel numbers even though I know that there will be nothing but fuzz. I have an automated system...4, 7, 8, 9, 12, 24, 32, 33, 34, 39, 43, 44, 46, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 64, 65, 69, 72, 73. I found myself dialing through the numbers manually even when there was nothing to see. Feh.

Well, it's official. I speculated that a Netflix subscription would be a waste of time and money for me and I think my experience with the free trial…

I haven't updated in quite a few days despite my best intentions. I'd like to say it's because I've been off running through my own personal training…
