Another war flick and another thumbs up

I caught Hart's war on FX the other night. It was their DVD special where they show the cut scenes and snippets of the director's comments after coming back from commercial breaks. One thing I have to say is that the germans treated their POWs pretty damn well...well, as long as they weren't russians. It was hard to tell the american soldiers were even in a prison camp. It looked like they were just out roughing it a little in a cabin in the wilderness somewhere. Everyone seemed pretty well cared for and I'm sure that if this were not the case, the movie certainly wouldn't have depicted it thus. Compare that with the crap that happened at the Hanoi Hilton or even with the american POWs captured during either of the Gulf Wars. Things have changed a lot over the years and the geneva convention is a joke all around.

Anyway, I thought the movie was pretty interesting. I liked windtalkers more and Hart's self-righteous bullcrap annoyed me more than a little. The deleted scenes with Lincoln and the other black pilot really made a significant improvement to the film. I'm not saying it deserved an oscar nod or anything close but I've always liked Bruce as an actor and it was a nice way to pass a couple hours I guess.
