WooT!

It feels like christmas! That sort of christmas where you have to buy your own presents but they're around 25% off after tax and shipping. Ummm...okay, so it might not be all that much like christmas after all. Regardless, I'm a happy camper right now, which as I'm sure you've all had occassion to remark at some point, is a pretty rare thing. Toys R Us is having a sale on Nintendo DS games and I just scored a half dozen of them. I first saw the deal a couple days ago on various forums as a Buy 2, Get 1 Free but it hadn't been working at the time. I kept doing searches on various deal forums and sites but coudln't figure out what was the matter until just earlier tonight. Turns out the site that had listed it had jumped the gun a bit. It wouldn't begin until the week of the 24th and when I checked the online site at 12:04 tonight, everything went through just fine.

I ended picking up:

Etrian Oddessey
Pokemon: Diamond
Pokemon: Pearl (Thinking about giving one of these to Matt as a birthday present. It's actually Joyce's birthday, but when it was his the present I gave him ended up being more for her. I figure that a switcharoo would only be fair.)
Lunar Knights
Trauma Center: Under the Knife
Animal Crossing: Wild World

After tax and shipping it cost me $145.15 or $24.20 per game. That's about as low as prices get for DS games, which don't seem to go on sale as often as their playstation, xbox, or wii counterparts. If I decide to head to a brick and mortar store tommorrow, I can always cancel the online order and save myself the cost of shipping to boot.

Curse you, free will! Curse you!!!!

The only plans I had for today was to get up and scamper over to a couple of TRU stores so I could continue to pick up DS games on the cheap. I had been planning to be there in front of the first store before they even opened so I could be sure to get first pick. After venturing to the second store right after, I figured I could go and grab some breakfast/brunch and head on home to bask in the post-consumer afterglow.

That was how it was SUPPOSED to go.

How it in fact ended up working out is that my 'alarm clock' chose not to wake me, thinking that I could use the sleep. While this is in fact, true enough, it also screwed my plans. It's a terrible thing when your 'alarm clock' fails to follow orders. I've been having sleep issues again and I tend to stagger through life always a bit tired/exhausted. It's just a replay of the old situation where I can't sleep for more than 3-4 hours at a time. Pain wakes me and then sleep is pretty shot for a while as I stagger about to pop pills and try to take care of things. This pretty much means that instead of actually sleeping like a normal person through the night, I end up taking 2-3 extended naps throughout the day/night. Being woken by pain is no picnic either. Imagine you're resting peacefully in the middle of the night when all of a sudden someone pops up and jabs a cattleprod into you and then repeatedly does it until you crawl out of bed and for the next half hour or so.

Anyway, by the time agony awoke me in a more 'natural' fashion for the second time that day, it was already past noon. I scoured the two TRU's but it loooked like a feeding swarm of locusts had already descended. I ended up finding only 1 of the games I really wanted (Pokemon Ranger) and picked up a borderline choice (Kirby Squeak Squad) and something for Matt (Planet Puzzle League). The second TRU was even worse than the first. The entire place just looked a bit seedy, giving you the impression that being shiv'ed by someone popping out of the asiles might not be a completely ludicious possibility. Might have been something to do with the dim lighting.

Shot in the dark

In what may have been a bout of insanity, I decided to get a permanant LJ account a few days ago. To commemorate that FUBAR, I thought that I should try to see if I could find some some new victims fodder additions for the old Friend's List. I've been on LJ now for quite a few years and in general, I've tended to keep the same group of friends that I first made on here and other sites. Time has started to wither a lot of them away and it might be time for some new blood. I've never actually done this before so I'm not sure exactly what information is useful to include so I figure I'll just scattershot some details:

My entries tend to be on the causticly sarcastic/snarky side. Since the journal is not Friends Only, feel free to browse about until you find something that offends you. The person who acquires the greatest degree of outrage in the fewest number of entries, wins!

As an addendum to above, please try to have a sense of humor. If you happen to have a congenital defect and were born without one or are one of the perpetually outraged, try to fake it.

Interests: Fantasy as a genre (swords and sorcery, epics, etc) [Favorite authors include: Salvatore, Goodkind, Martin, Lackey, Donaldson, Weis, Hickman, etc), musicals, the nightmare before christmas, RPGs and board/card games, I'm quite enamored with my Nintendo DS at the moment, psychology (majored in it and got a masters), drug abuse (did research on it for years), gaming conventions, audiobooks, stargate sg1/atlantis, politics, etc.

Drop me a line if any of this sounds even slightly interesting.

Since, from what I've seen, the tradition for these sort of entries is to include a cam-whoring sort of picture in it, here's a halloween costume from a few years back. Bonus points if you can recognize what I'm supposed to be. No, the answer is not a Vampire Mr. Hanky.

So, the above is what I posted around to various communities on LJ which apparently specialize in that sort of thing. I figured it might not be a bad idea to get some new blood. LJ has been starting to seem sorta boring and desolate lately and I've got to somehow justify that expenditure of $150.
