Reading is Fundamental

A while back I ordered a lot of books off of ebay. I was looking for something new to read and I was willing to branch out from fantasy. Most of the fantasy authors I follow are stuck in long story arcs at the moment where new books appear once every couple of years and I get sick of waiting. I figured what I needed is smoeone well established with a series that had a long history already. I ended up settling on Janet Evanovich who was a bit more girly than I normally would have gone for. She writes a series of novels about a jersey girl named Stephanie Plum who becomes a bounty hunter to pay her bills and due to general incompetance and odd events, always seems to get into odd scrapes. See the general plot wagon?

Here's a summary from her website:

Errr, well, here's where I would have a summary of the series but it seems her site dosen't have one. Just links to the various books and then sometimes reviews that were written about them. Well, that sorta sucks.

Anyway, the series appealed to me for a variety of reasons. One was I was able to win a lot of the first 11 books, and second, I had listened to the audiobook of the first one and liked it. It's interesting to see someone writing about Trenton, the state capitol of NJ, and while I've never been there, I'm guessing that it's not very picturesque from the descriptions in the books.

I went on a reading bender after the package arrived and managed to finish all eleven of the suckers in a little over 7 days. At this point I'm pretty much caught up and the next paperback won't hit the shelves until the middle of june. So I'd like to see if anyone else has any other suggestions for something in the same vein. Preferably a cotinuing series with a lot of books already out. Something with a dash of humor in the writing is always appreciated too. Rich characters are a must.
