I'm a bad person and I don't care

So yesterday was Lori's birthday party and Chinese New Year all wrapped up on in. I spent most of the day incredibly sleep deprived, having been unable to sleep well the past few nights. I only managed to doze off a few hours before the party was supposed to start and it took a herculean effort to even drag myself out of bed.

The party itself was nothing spectacular really. It was pretty much filled with meetup people and after scarfing some food and cake, everyone got down to gaming. I just couldn't bring myself to participate in much of anything. I was feeling generally blah and all I wanted to do was go to bed.

The original plan had been to attend Lori's party until 8:30 or so when a group of us would leave for Chinese New Year celebrations with my family. Matt, Joyce, and the Bill were going to come along and Randy had called earlier in the day to say that there was a chance that he would show up too. Turns out that Bob's (his partner) hip replacement surgery had gone much better than expected and he wouldn't be as tied down as previously thought.

At Lori's party, Matt wasn't feeling all that well and he and Joyce decided to beg off from going to the New Years celebration. The Bills then followed suit because Bill M had work he needed to get done with an internet course he was taking. By that point, all I really wanted to do was go home and blow off the whole night and maybe get some sleep. As I got home, I dropped Randy a message telling him that everyone else had bailed and that I was likely conking out too. I also rang my sisters to let them know I wasn't going to show up. Almost immediately after that, I get a callback from Randy saying he's just arrived at the resturant.

Now, a good person, not to mention a good friend, would have gotten back into the car and drove to the resturant. After all, not only is there some obligation to spend a holiday with your family, but one of your friends that you invited has shown up and is now lost within a crowd of your family that he dosen't even know. Now that we all know what a good person would do, my solution was to wish Randy a good time and tell him to eat up. I then proceeded to go upstairs and fall asleep.

To cap it all off, my sister asked me only a few minutes ago if Randy had been a friend I didn't like or something considering the ditching of the night before. I guess all I can say is that I like Randy, I'm a bad person, and I just really wanted some sleep.
