Traffic jam on the information super highway

One thing which never fails to drive me crazy is lag at 4am in the fucking morning. Why in the world is there lag at this hour? My internet connection is creeping along at a snail's pace and I often have to reload a page 5 or 6 times before it finally displays. It makes no bloody sense considering that there can only be a handful of people up at this hour in the area. I mean, we probably have a few WoW freaks, some porn addicts, a handful of insomniacs and shift workers. All of those individuals could only make up the tinest fraction of the net traffic you get during the hours of daylight, yet my connection is lagged and crappy. Maybe this is the time of day when my ISP chooses to run maintanance or something similar that slows things down, but I've never seen any notices of it.

I've spent the past hour or so trying to catch up on LJ entries and comments to almost no avail. At the pace it's going, it'd take me hours just to jot off a handful of comments and catch up. So instead, I think I'm just going to say fuck it and go back to bed. Maybe the whole mess will be cleared up by the time I wake up.
