When I'm with you, I can't live without you

I've mentioend my newfound tv-binging a couple times now and for the most part, I've been pretty indiscriminate about what I'm willing to watch. Well, actually, let me add a qualifier to that. I'm still not watching any network tv, but I roam up and down the cable channels like a hobo looking for a handout. In addition to my newfound joy in Parking Wars, one other show I've ended up watching compulsively is Crossing Jordan on A&E.

Now, I've caught random episodes of Crossing Jordan in the past on A&E, but it's only recently that I end up watching 2 episodes a day. Mostly because it's just how my sleep-wake cycle has panned out. It's about the only thing on in the mornings other than endless cable news shows and I can only stomach so many hours of that before it gets unbearably repetative. What I had forgotten is how excellent the show is and how great an actress Jill Hennessy is. It's ecspecially a marvel because I didn't like her at all when she played Claire on Law and Order. She was just mousy and boring and I figured her career would sink like a stone once they whacked her character there. It just goes to show you that a lot of the quality of an actor or actress depends on the role they're given. Hell, maybe Claire was supposed to be mousy and boring, and if so, Jill managed to do a hell of a job. As Jordan Cavanagh in Crossing Jordan, she's obviously been given the ability to show her acting chops and is incredibly. I'm just glad that someone was able to see past her role on L&O to give her a chance with her own series.

Anyway, I've been watching Crossing Jordan eps for a week and a half or so before I finally got around to checking wikipedia for an episode list. Imagine my shock when I found out that the show was only just canceled in 2007. Hell, I had been watching reruns on A&E for what felt like decades. If you had asked, I would have wagered the show had been canceled at least 4 years ago. I mean, lets face it, you don't really get the impression that A&E back in the old days could have afforded to syndicate a network show while it was still in its first run. Turns out that I wasn't the only one who really appreciated the show and it seems to have had a pretty dedicated fan base. On the plus side, this also means that though I've been watching nothing but new (to me) episodes daily, I still have 2 seasons left to go. Spiffyness.
