Bring on the chemo

Well, I've finally done it. Despite my fervent belief (or is that hope?) that facebook causes cancer, I have created an account. My initial impressions of the site were not very positive to say the least. It seemed like a very clunky sort of system and I was having a hell of a time trying to navigate around it. Like a lot of things, it's a very modular setup and I figure it'll be a while before I find all the knobs and dials to get things just as I want them. I just managed to find the import blog function so hopefully this entry and future ones will pop up there as well. I'm feeling my way along and I'm forced to admit that it might be a better experience in the end than I gave it credit for. The jury's still out though.

One of the pluses is that I now have a way to get and keep in touch with some people that I had no easy way to contact before. Either we don't travel in the same circles online as far as forums or other sites go or there were just other barriers to easy communication. I'm also wondering if this will make group planning easier for events like origins or gencon when everyone who needs to provide input is in one place. I guess we'll see how it goes.

At the moment, the best and most frustrating part on the site is this little dnd application where you get a character and then try to level it up like a mini rpg. It's pretty spiffy, but it's also driving me up the wall because I keep getting my ass handed to me and 'dying'. It's called Tiny Adventures and if you decide to give it a whirl, definitely add me as a friend. I demand buffs and healing.

Facebook is like the Myspace for non-pedophiles.

It's an utterly useless site if you like blogging. It's great for posting one-liners, a bit like twitters, only more retarded.

Are you saying that I can't score teenage ass on the site? Grrrr. That might just be the straw that broke the camel's back.

As for the blogging, it seems to import my LJ posts in their entirety to the 'Notes' section. It doesn't have many bells and whistles for sure, but I guess it gets the job done. I certainly wouldn't choose to blog on it, but it's not horrible as a feed platform.

I have a facebook. Most of the "interaction" I see there is "You've been Superpoked", or "take this survey" kinds of things.

It's a big meme site with pictures.

I use it to get photos of various cosplay events I've done, but otherwise tend to leave it alone unless I'm really bored.

I haven't seen a single meme yet, but then again I've only been on for a day or so. It might also just be differences in the people on our lists.
