Downshifting

I spent the first day back from Origins in bed. There was valuable sleep to catch up on and now that I'm back from the convention, my daily activity has flatlined once again. All in all, the trip to Origins wasn't horrible and certainly nowhere near as bad as I had feared. I was able to keep the pain management under control for the most part and there were quite a few bits of entertainment here and there. What is clear is that I'm no longer as young as I used to be. Just a few years ago I would spend most of my days at a con getting up at 7am and then in events back to back to back until well after midnight. I would snag a few hours sleep and then be off again in the morning. In contrast, this time around I spent more time sleeping and loafing than anything else. For a certainty, I got more sleep at Origins than I have ever gotten at any convention in the past, and this includes local cons.

Despite the extra shuteye, I did get to run through a few events including two shots through Terrorwerks, a couple RPGs and a few board/card games to boot. I'm not sure that the whole thing was "worth" the cost if you only take the number of games played into account, but I also got to spend a lot of time with people I don't get to see very often and that's always nice. Most of the time, I ended up wandering around with Chelle and Todd, though I also got to yak and wander with Sherilyn, Randy (Keeper), and quite a few others. I took a bunch of pictures which I have just finished downloading from the camera and will hopefully resize and upload in the next day or two to form the recap.

Oh, and I got a call from Connie while I was at the con. It turns out the Flip Mino wasn't stolen. She had placed it in the closet along with her digital camera and Jeff had put a bucket of paint or something in front of it, obstructing it from view. So it looks like I'm going to get all of my videos back after all. I still missed out on taking video for the trip, which is sort of sad, but things worked out better than I had any right to expect.
